ESCAP’s Work to Advance Sustainable Energy in Asia and the Pacific

The lecture reviews ESCAP’s energy-sector work in Asia and the Pacific, highlighting SDG 7 progress and regional energy transition trends. While electricity access is improving, clean cooking remains the biggest challenge, and renewable energy growth is still too slow. The lecture concludes that unlocking vast renewable potential requires stronger policy frameworks, increased investment in supply and grids, and enhanced grid infrastructure and cross-border connectivity to support energy access, efficiency, and decarbonization.
